Air Conditioning Servicing in Sussex and Surrey
JAC Air Conditioning Ltd services air conditioning on any major brand across Sussex and Surrey, cleaning and checking every part that matters and leaving a written record after each visit.
Regular Servicing Keeps Air Conditioning Running Reliably
JAC Air Conditioning Ltd services air conditioning in homes and businesses across Sussex and Surrey from our office in Horsham, and across Lincolnshire from our base at Fosdyke. We service every major brand, so it makes no difference who installed the system.
An air conditioning unit moves a great deal of air through its filters and across its coils. Over time dust builds up, drains collect debris, and small changes in pressure or in the electrical connections go unnoticed until something fails. A service puts that right before it becomes a breakdown, and helps the system keep running quietly and efficiently.
Manufacturers usually require regular servicing to keep the warranty valid. After every visit we give you a written record of what was checked, cleaned and measured, which is the kind of evidence a manufacturer may ask for if you ever need to make a warranty claim.

What We Check on Every Service
Step through the eight checks in a JAC service, from the filters to the final test, or let the tour run through them on its own.
Step 01 of 08
Filters
What We Check
We take the filters out, check them for damage and clean them, so air can pass through freely again.
Why It Matters
Clogged filters starve the unit of air. It works harder for less, and the dust that gets past them settles on the coil.
Step 02 of 08
Evaporator Coil
What We Check
We inspect the indoor coil for dust and growth, and clean it with a cleaner suited to the fins.
Why It Matters
A clean coil passes heat well. A dirty one loses capacity, can ice up in cooling and is a common cause of smells.
Step 03 of 08
Condensate Tray and Drain
What We Check
We clear the tray, flush the drain and check the pipe falls freely to its outlet, or test the pump where one is fitted.
Why It Matters
This is where water leaks begin. A blocked drain is the most common reason water drips from an indoor unit.
Step 04 of 08
Indoor Fan
What We Check
We check the fan barrel for dirt and balance, and listen to the motor and bearings as it runs.
Why It Matters
A dirty or unbalanced fan moves less air and gets louder, and a worn bearing found early is a simpler repair.
Step 05 of 08
Electrical Connections and Controls
What We Check
We check the terminals are tight, look for any sign of overheating, and test the remote, the sensors and any timers.
Why It Matters
Loose or scorched connections cause faults and nuisance trips. The controls are how you run the system, so they need to respond properly.
Step 06 of 08
Outdoor Coil and Fan
What We Check
We clear leaves and debris, clean the outdoor coil, check the fan blades and make sure air can move freely around the unit.
Why It Matters
The outdoor unit gives off the heat taken from your rooms. If it cannot breathe, the whole system struggles, summer or winter.
Step 07 of 08
Refrigerant Pressures and Leak Check
What We Check
We check the operating pressures and temperatures and look for signs of a leak at the joints and valves, with the F-Gas leak check recorded where the law requires one.
Why It Matters
A low charge points to a leak, and a leak never mends itself. Only an F-Gas certified company may work on the refrigerant circuit; our REFCOM certificate is REF1019419.
Step 08 of 08
Final Operation Test
What We Check
We run the system in cooling and heating, measure the air coming out of the indoor unit and check it answers the controls.
Why It Matters
It proves everything we have checked works together, and the readings go on your written service record for the next visit.
Why Servicing Matters
A clogged filter or dirty coil makes the system work harder for the same result. The room takes longer to cool or heat, the unit runs for longer and the components wear faster. Cleaning those parts is one of the simplest ways to keep running costs in check and the system pleasant to live or work with.
Servicing also affects the air in the room. The indoor unit collects dust as it runs, and a damp coil or drain tray left uncleaned can start to smell. A clean unit keeps the air fresher and lets the filters do their job of trapping dust.
Finally, a service is an early warning. Our engineers measure pressures and temperatures and listen to the fans and compressor, so a weak component or a slow leak can be dealt with on a planned visit rather than in the middle of a hot spell.
How Often Air Conditioning Should Be Serviced
Manufacturers usually ask for a service at least once a year to keep the warranty valid, so a yearly service is the usual pattern for home systems, and the warranty terms for your own system are worth checking. Systems that work harder, such as those in busy offices, shops, restaurants or server rooms, often benefit from more frequent visits, and we agree a schedule that suits how the system is used.
A service is not the same as an F-Gas leak check, although we can carry out both on the same visit. Leak checks are a legal requirement based on the system's refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent. Below 5 tonnes, none is required. Systems holding 5 to under 50 tonnes need a check every 12 months, extended to every 24 months where automatic leak detection is fitted. Larger systems need checking more often.
For commercial sites, a planned maintenance schedule brings servicing and leak checks together, with the records kept for you.

Looking After Your System Between Visits
There are a few simple things you can do between services. Clean the indoor unit's filters regularly when the system is in heavy use, following the manufacturer's handbook. Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and stored items so it can draw air freely, and wipe the front of the indoor unit with a dry cloth.
Pay attention to changes. A new noise, a smell when the unit starts, water marks below the indoor unit or a room that takes longer to reach temperature are all worth reporting. Caught early, they are often simple to put right. If something has already stopped working, our air conditioning repairs service covers diagnosis on any major brand.
Servicing Any Make, Whoever Installed It
We service Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, GENERAL, Samsung and LG, along with other major brands. On a first visit to a system we did not install, we note the model, the refrigerant and its condition, so there is a clear history for every visit after.
Our engineers, Jay and Oscar, are CITB and City and Guilds qualified, and JAC Air Conditioning Ltd holds REFCOM F-Gas company certification, certificate number REF1019419, valid to 25 May 2028. That certification matters for servicing as much as for installation, because only a certified company may install, service or repair a refrigerant circuit.
We service systems throughout our area, including air conditioning in Brighton, Worthing, Dorking and Horsham, and the villages around them.

Air Conditioning Servicing Questions, Answered
How often should air conditioning be serviced?
For most home systems, a yearly service is the usual pattern and is what manufacturers usually ask for to keep the warranty valid. Systems that run for long hours, such as those in offices, shops, restaurants or server rooms, often need more frequent visits. JAC Air Conditioning agrees a schedule with you based on how the system is used and what the manufacturer requires.
Does servicing keep my manufacturer warranty valid?
Manufacturers usually require regular servicing to keep the warranty valid, and a written service history is the evidence they may ask for when a claim is made. Our engineers record every visit in writing, so you can show the system has been looked after. Without that history, a claim for a failed part can be harder to make.
Is an air conditioning service the same as an F-Gas leak check?
No. A service cleans and checks the system so it works well. An F-Gas leak check is a legal requirement for systems holding 5 tonnes of CO2 equivalent or more, apart from hermetically sealed systems under 10 tonnes, and the interval depends on the size of the charge. We can carry out both on the same visit and record them separately, which keeps the paperwork clear.
What does the written service record include?
The record sets out what was cleaned and checked on each indoor and outdoor unit, the readings taken, and anything we found that needs attention, with our advice and a price if work is needed. It is worth keeping with the paperwork that came with the system, alongside any F-Gas leak check records for larger systems.
How long does an air conditioning service take?
It depends on the number of indoor units, how easy they are to reach and how much cleaning is needed. A single wall mounted system in a home takes far less time than a building with several cassettes and outdoor units. We give you an idea of timing when you book, and on commercial sites we plan visits around your working hours.
What should I do between air conditioning services?
Clean the filters when the system is in heavy use, following the manufacturer's handbook, and keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and stored items. Note anything that changes, such as a new noise, a smell on start up or water below the indoor unit, and let us know. Small issues are easier to fix before they become a breakdown.
